スウェーデン研修に参加して

　I went to Sweden from March 6th to 13th for a short-term overseas training program offered by my university. When I was in my second year of high school, I learned about the excellent education systems in the Nordic countries and became interested in their educational environment. This led me to the dream of “someday, I would like to see the educational scene in the Nordic countries with my own eyes!”　Therefore, for me, this training was the fulfillment of one dream I had in high school. During my stay, there were days when it snowed, and I have good memories of being able to enjoy “The Nordic Winter” with its snowy landscapes.
　One of the most memorable parts of the training was the visit to a pre-school. When I visited the school, which is the equivalent of a kindergarten or nursery school in Japan, I was impressed by the educational environment that respects the “likes” and “interests” of young children. Looking back on my own kindergarten days, I remember many experiences in which we all worked on the same things, such as when the teacher played the piano and we all sang along, or when we made the same crafts following the teacher's example. In Japan, I have the impression that children have many opportunities to experience group activities from an early age, but in Sweden, there were rooms with various themes so that children could play the way they wanted to play. For example, a room with dancing, with musical instruments, with snails, a studio room, and others. In terms of respecting individuality, it was also interesting to note that school lunches are buffet style from the time of pre-school. From my study of Swedish education, I thought that education based on both the awareness of being a member of a group and cooperation, which Japan values in education, and the development of individual interests, which Sweden values, would be one step closer to an ideal education.
　I am currently a member of the Education Department and am preparing to go to an elementary school in fall for practical training. Through this training in Sweden, I became even more interested in educating children, who are the future. I would like to apply what I learned here to my own thinking and future little by little.

　私は3/6～13まで、大学の短期海外研修でスウェーデンに行きました。高２の時に北欧諸国の教育が優れていることを知り、その教育環境に興味を持ち始めました。それがきっかけで、「北欧諸国の教育現場をいつか自分の目で確かめたい！」という夢を持ちました。そのため、私にとっては高校時代に抱いた１つの夢が叶った研修でもあったのです。滞在期間には雪が降った日もあり、雪景色とともに「THE 北欧の冬」を堪能できたことも良い思い出です。
　今回の研修で特に印象に残っているのは、就学前学校訪問です。日本でいう幼稚園?保育園にあたる学校を見学した際に感じたことは、幼児の“好き“や“関心”を尊重している教育環境であるということでした。自分の幼稚園時代を振り返ってみると、先生がピアノ演奏をしてそれに合わせて皆で歌ったり、先生の手本通りに同じ工作を作ったりと、皆で同じものに取り組むという経験を多くした記憶があります。日本では、幼い頃から集団行動を経験する機会が多い印象がありますが、スウェーデンでは子どもたちが自分のしたい遊びができるように、様々なテーマを持った部屋がありました。例えば、ダンスが踊れる部屋、楽器が置いてある部屋、カタツムリがいる部屋、アトリエ部屋などです。また、個性を尊重するという点では、就学前学校の時点から、給食がビュッフェ形式なことにも興味深く感じました。私はスウェーデンの教育現場での学びから、日本が教育する上で大切にしている、自分は集団の一員であるという意識や協調性と、スウェーデンが大切にしている、個人の興味関心を伸ばすという両方を軸にした教育が、理想の教育に近づく１歩になるのではないかと考えました。
　私は現在、教育学科に所属しており、秋には小学校への実習を控えています。今回のスウェーデン研修を通じて、未来を担う子どもたちを教育するということにさらに興味を持ちました。ここでの学びを自分の今後の将来に、少しずつ活かしていきたいです。
